Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Essay – Guide 2021

Deductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning. This reasoning. That reasoning. We can’t seem to escape it, do we?

Well, sadly, this is what happens when we write essays.

You need to be super logical and when you are super logical you use either inductive or deductive reasoning. Mostly, we use them in an argumentative essay. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be used elsewhere. You should be satisfied that this way my writer will write my essay perfectly.

But what are these reasoning concepts?

Let me tell you all about them.

What is deductive reasoning?

This is the most common type of reasoning that you use. Yes, you use it every single day. You just don’t notice it.

Deductive reasoning has what we call premises.

These premises are general statements that are accepted as a fact.

Example!

Like, for example, your premise can be that the streets get wet when it snows.

Ok?

Then the second premise can be that it is snowing right now.

So, you can conclude that since the streets get wet when it snows and it is snowing right now, the streets must be wet right now.

Simple logic.

Then what is inductive reasoning?

This one is a bit more complex, ok?

But I will try my best to explain.

In inductive reasoning, you present a piece of evidence and then you make a general conclusion from it. So, it is the opposite of deductive reasoning.

How?

Well, deductive reasoning starts with a general statement, right? Like how the streets get wet when it snows.

Well, inductive reasoning ENDS with a general statement. Let me show you how.

Example

You can say that Jennifer is left-handed and uses left-handed scissors. This is not a generic statement. It’s about a person so it is specific.

Now, if Charles is also left-handed, shouldn’t he use left-handed scissors too?

Yeah!

This inductive reasoning. You take a specific statement and you generalize it. Jennifer’s preferences have been generalized for Charles. And not just for Charles.

You can say that all left-handed people use left-handed scissors. This is even more general.

But what about essays?

Yes, well… I gave you simple examples so that you will understand the concept of these types of reasonings.

But, of course, in an essay, you can’t use such simple arguments.

Your arguments in an essay will be molded according to the topic because you will be writing a custom essay. So, you will use customized arguments. But they won’t be that hard.

For example, you can say that deforestation, pollution, and the farming of livestock are human endeavors.

And that these endeavors cause global warming.

So, humans cause global warming. See, it is not so hard after all!

Where to use these reasoning techniques?

Well, the example that I gave you is a thesis.

But you can use logical explanations anywhere in your essay. Actually, you should use them everywhere in your essays.

Like when you try to prove a point in your body paragraphs, try to use deductive or inductive reasoning. I do this a lot when I write my essay for me. Why? Well, the reason is simple enough. It makes the essay better?

How does this make my essays better?

Look! Think about it.

Deductive and inductive reasoning is pure logic. It shows that you are smart and creative enough to come up with logical arguments.

And if your arguments are logical, who can dispute them?

So, the best way to write a good essay is by using these two techniques.

Get started then!

Now that you know what logical reasoning is, you can easily use it in your essays.

And if you are having trouble initially, don’t worry. It’s totally normal.

You just need an essay writing service to help you with the nuances of writing an essay.

So, place an order and let the fun begin.
